Macedo Finishes Of Clean Sweep Of Winged Sprints At Lincoln

Californian Has Central Illinois Track Figured Out                 (Lincoln, IL) Lincoln Courier night, presented by Melling Performance Parts brought out a stellar field of 30 winged sprint cars for the Neal Tire Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) event at Lincoln Speedway.  UMP Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Hornets, and POWRi Lucas Oil DII Midgets were also in action.                 Jacob Patton set fast time with an 11.604 in sprint car qualifying, to best the 30-car field.  Heat race victories went to Kody Kinser, Jimmy Hurley, Carson Macedo, and Chris Urish.  In the important B-Main, to determine the final starters in the field, Paul Nienhiser put on a show at the top of the track to claim the win.                 24 cars lined up for the 25-lap Neal Tire & Auto MOWA Sprint Car feature.  At the drop of the green, Lemoore, California driver, Carson Macedo, rocketed out front.  Macedo, coming off …

MOWA Sprint Cars Set For Center Stage At Lincoln Speedway

​Friday’s Lincoln Courier Night To Feature Five Divisions Of Racing                 (Lincoln, IL) The MOWA Sprint Cars, a fan favorite at Lincoln Speedway, will be flying around the 1/4-mile dirt oval this coming Friday, July 14.  It’s the second and final event this season for the full size, winged, 410 sprint cars at the Central Illinois track this summer.  Lincoln Courier night will also feature the Midwest Big Ten UMP Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, POWRi Lucas Oil DII MIdgets presented by Nutech Seed, and UMP Hornets.  Fan giveaways will take place throughout the night, sponsored by Melling Performance.                 Springfield, IL’s Jimmy Moughan currently leads the standings in the series, which has numerous drivers not only from Central Illinois but from Lincoln as well.  St. Louis, MO driver and open wheel standout, Brad Loyet, is second in points coming into the event.  Lincoln’s own AJ Bruns is third in …

That driver was Christopher Bell, who captured a pair of victories at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City) and Belle-Clair Speedway (Belleville) during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Sheppard Stays Hot, Claims Graue Chevrolet Showdown

(July 2) —Slipping ahead of race leader Kyle Bronson of Brandon, Fla., on lap 24 of 40, third-starting Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., led the remaining distance in the Graue Chevrolet Showdown for his third straight UMP DIRTcar Summernationals victory and a $5,000 payday at Lincoln Speedway. “With about 15 to go, I started seeing some smoke come out of the left front,” Sheppard said. “I wasn’t really sure what to do. I just kept an eye on my oil pressure and I never totally lost oil pressure. The last lap, I started losing a lot more than what I had been. First Of A Kind Tripleheader Show This Sunday At Lincoln

Summer Nationals, USAC National Midgets, & Summit Modified Nationals On Track                 (Lincoln, IL) The stars will be shining brightly this Sunday, July 2 at Lincoln Speedway as fans will be treated to a first-ever combination show, featuring the Summer Nationals Hell Tour Late Models, USAC Midget Nationals, and the Summit Modified Nationals.  The Graue Chevrolet Showdown event will truly bring out some of the best in the nation in all three classes of racing.                 Heading into this weekend, over 130 different Super Late Model drivers have been a part of the Summer National Hell Tour, a grueling one month series that runs just about every night.  Oakwood, IL driver, Bobby Pierce, who has been the Hell Tour champion the last two years, again leads the standings but he’s feeling pressure this year from veteran and 6-time Summer Nationals champion Billy Moyer and 4-time Summer Nationals champion, Shannon Babb.  …

Butterfield Takes $1,000 Hornet Challenge At Lincoln Speedway

                (Lincoln, IL) Lincoln Speedway was back in action this past Friday, June 23 with Intrepid Fallen Heroes night presented by Charron’s Auto Repair.  On schedule was the $1,000 to win Hornet Challenge, which ended up being the show of the night.  The Midwest Big Ten Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and POWRi DII Midgets presented by Nutech Seed were also on schedule.                 A strong field of 19-cars and drivers entered the 2nd annual Hornet Challenge.  Drivers from four different states, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Missouri were on hand going for the top prize.  Early on in the event, it was two Wisconsin drivers, Jay Orr and Jake Balk, going back and forth for the lead.  However, Mapleton, IL driver, Kenny Butterfield, entered the three car battle and took the top spot on lap seven.   Back in the field, last year’s winner, Adam Webb was trying to work …
